Shaoxing Chinese Wine
Shaoxing Chinese wine, or shàoxīng jiǔ, is a type of Chinese rice wine that hails from Shaoxing, a city in China’s Zhejiang Province famous for rice wine production. With early records mentioning it over 2000 years ago, Shaoxing Wine is one of the oldest forms of rice wine in China.
The origin of the "Daughter Red Wine" has a wonderful legend, in ancient times in Shaoxing, when a daughter was born, parents would save a few jars of wine, adding some carvings and paintings to the jar, then buried them in the ground, waiting for the daughter to get married, they would take out the wine to treat all invited guests, daughter red wine is named from this tradition.
Yellow rice wine has high nutrition value, containing 21 kinds of amino acids. Aged for 6years, it is commonly consumed warm, as the richness from the flavour compounds are released better when warm. In summer, it is popular to drink it chilled or on ice.
