Boatyard Vodka is the third product launched from The Boatyard Distillery, and the first ever vodka to be made from organic Irish wheat. Malted Irish wheat is steeped in hot water to produce a sugary liquid known as 'wort'. Once this is cooled, Champagne yeast is added and left to ferment for seven days. The resulting alcoholic liquid, the 'wash', is then distilled three times in 500 litre 'Mr Fusion' still to 96% ABV, and unfiltered. Finally, purified water is added to the high-strength alcohol to bring it down to a smooth 41% ABV. This approach gives this small batch Irish vodka a unique and complex flavour.
